      well I'm not 100% opposed to it but i'm worried that it might push him away if he's not ready. And also I want him to ask me because it would prove that he really cares

        I think you made it clear when you said neither him or you have been in a romantic relationship before. This is yours and his first time he might not know when it does or doesn't make sense to say something like that. Also account for his depression and shyness. All of those things say he is an inexperienced guy who's mind mind not be occupied with the whole make her mine thing in his head or he's scared you'll scare him away.

        In other words I don't think you can expect the norm from this guy right this moment, so maybe you're the one should bring it up.

        He was pretty ready to be having sex with you so why shouldn't he be ready to commit to you in words as he has already done in penis?
