Is it normal that for guy friends to say "i love you" to each other?

I'm a guy, and have been saying "I love you" or "love ya bro" whenever i'm talking or texting to a really close guy friend of mine. My friends always reciprocate it too, and it kind of strengthens our friendship a little I guess. The question is though, even if I don't feel weird saying these to my bros, is it normal? What do you guys think?

    • So two guys, one or both, with feelings for the other is not fine? Is that what you're suggesting?

  • I've told a guy friend I love him & had him say the same but only when we were either REALLY fucked up or at emotional times like funerals & shit like that.

But hey, if you're both comfortable, so be it

  • So you are the Telly Savalas "Who loves ya baby" of your friend network. You would not be you without it.

  • It's fine. There's no shame in loving a person of the same sex. Love comes in many types (Platonic, Romantic, Bromance, Sismance- I just made that up, and Familial).

  • I have friends that say that. I always thought they are purposely trying to be awkward to be funny.

  • I've had a couple of very close male friends for more than 50 years. One has passed and the other still lives and I loved them both, as true, close friends. It was not something that needed verbal reinforcement; words were unnecessary. It isn't anything like the love I have for my wife or the other women I've known, where verbalizing love was an important part of the relationship.
