I agree, it can be shallow and phoney. There's a lot of 'look how great a time I'm having', 'look how great my life is, look!' stuff going on. And sometimes it just seems false and really those people may be feeling insecure and that's why they feel the need to kinda show off in that way. It's very interesting. An example quickly... I know someone who posted a photo of their cute kid that got tons of likes and what not. I was actually there when they took the photo and know that in reality, it took about ten minutes to get that perfect shot (of how great their life is!) and they were getting super annoyed at the time. So fb sometimes is a way of showing others what you want them to see. Filtering out the crap, basically. It's not very real half the time.
