It sounds like you're seeing the wrong therapist. It can take a few tries to find the right one, and even then, keep in mind that they see everything through whatever filters they personally have (ie, if a male therapist had a nasty mother, he might be partial to siding with men in couples' therapy, or if a female therapist was abused by an ex, she might tend to side with the woman), "trained professional" or not. Try to take them with a grain of salt- they're only human. Also, google is your friend- See if you can find a therapist who *is* familiar with your kinds of issues via google.
