Is it normal that christmas is depressing?

I always end up crying or being depressed on Christmas. My family had always argued on this day and now that i have my own daughter i can't enjoy this magical holiday with her. That and its such a big gimmick- you start seeing Christmas shit like 2 months ahead of time and you have to buy everyone gifts, which is fun, but an overbearing economy booster. I hate it i hate it i hate it. AND i have to tell my daughter that these wonderful gift i worked so hard to get her that Santa dropped them of effortlessly. Wtf? I want to make this day magical for her, but i don't want to buy in to all the crap.

Is It Normal?

  • I agree- Christmas gets old and weirdly enough, it actually messes with the economy. With everyone buying gifts for other people, it inflates the worth of otherwise worthless products. Since people would not normally buy the gifts for themselves, it screws up supply/demand.

    • It actually doesnt "mess up" the economy at all, sounds like you just made that up. It helps stimulate the economy at the end of the year as production rises due to demand and purchasing practices.

That being said the idea behind the holiday is being lost little by little every year that goes by.

And the holiday itself is massively overcommercialized.
