Is it normal that certain sounds make me uncomfortable?

Scraping, grinding, screeching, etc. I hate the sound of walking on gravel for example. I also hate paper tearing. Going away from hearing, I also dislike my nails touching anything. I get that nail-grinding on a chalkboard feeling. I struggle with cooking and eating because almost everything in the kitchen is metal. That's another one, metal spoons and glass bowls clashing. I also hate loud and sudden noises.

Is It Normal?

Welcome to the club my friend.
Chewing, lip smacking, yawning, sneezing, knuckle cracking, humming, etc... all throw me into a rage. Or actually, I just run away before I can go into a rage lol

  • Okie dokie. That part makes sense. Though I still don't get why they chose their car. It comes off as ghetto, immature, and irresponsible. I'm not sure if that'll be attractive to potential mates. XD

  • Lol in my hometown that shit is rampant. People spend money they barely have to illegally modify the car to be loud and fast. It's such a waste. I don't understand what they get out of it. Attention? XD

      • I don't think that loud car is going to be attracting many mates. It just makes them come off as ghetto, immature, and irresponsible with finances. XD

  • I think it's normal, as many people have sounds and/or sensations they hate. Mine is shushing. There are very few things on this earth as nerve-grating to me as hearing someone go "shhhh". Words cannot begin to describe how much I absolutely HATE that awful noise! I think nails on a chalkboard might actually be slightly more pleasant.

I also can't stand lip smacking or noisy eating. More than anything, I'll immediately lose my appetite if someone at the table is doing that while I'm eating. But, it's still probably more pleasant than the shushing, lol.

  • I hate all of those. I dig water sounds though like rain, or a waterfall, or a bubble popping. The sound of a slow drip of liquid is the sexiest thing

  • I hate the sound of ppl smacking food or gum. Its why I could never work in an office environment. I started taking trucking runs from this other company where I lived with a partner and when he slept I drove and vice versa. Truck never stopped moving. Day 1 I see the gum and I'm like "Do you have any pet peves I need to kno about" hes like "naw.... do you?" And I said "yeah i HATE when ppl chew gum" and he had gum in his mouth 😂. He paused and turned to me with his eyes wide. I was like "yeah sorry bro this trip is gonna suck you gotta spit it out" I could tell it pissed him off I felt bad. He threw it out the window and it was awkward silence.
