In the most extreme case I think it is, but I think people who are slightly extroverted make up a larger percentage of the population, and this means that being introverted is considered abnormal. Because of this, you have a lot of people who are slightly introverted but completely healthy being told that they are somehow wrong. In short, I think being introverted is normal in most cases and that it should be tolerated more. Rejection may often be the reason for introverted tendencies, but that does not mean that being introverted is wrong. Many intelligent people throughout history were rejected at one point (or many points) throughout their lives.
