IIN that as a woman, I feel like I can't relate much to my own gender?

  • I'm autistic also and i've never been able to connect with other women. As a kid, sure, but everyone are pretty chill as kids. I just don't get women my age, it feels like all of them play games and trash talk each other and the exceptions are probably hard to find because those girls aren't as loud and noticeable and when you aren't social yourself how do you even find them in the first place. Guys in my experience are overall easier because they are more honest towards their friends, they are straight forward and don't compete with each other like women tend to do.
Of course i've also had luck in the men i've come across in life and befriended but I have tendency to either attract men who are confirmed on the spectrum, or men with - to me - obvious autistic traits. One of my best friends is very social but still possibly autistic to me since we relate to each other so much and well, even autistic people are social. It's a spectrum as wide as how different neurotypicals are from each other. There's both introverted and extroverted neurotypicals also. So I can see what you mean. Personally I could imagine befriending women maybe double my age, or at least 10 years older and who are mature and secure enough in themselves to not enjoy creating drama. Plus I feel more comfortable with women slightly older than myself.
