Is it normal that a straight friend asked me if i find him handsome?

...right after I told him I was bi? I'm not sure if he's straight but he's a close friend, so I told him the truth and then he asked that. (I'm a boy btw)

Does he want something?

Is It Normal?

  • He could be wondering if you find him attractive, so that he knows if you find him attractive so much as to make situations awkward by your affection of him in the sexual manner.

He could be asking an outsider's opinion who is a friend if they find him attractive to see if he is or not.

He may be homosexual or bisexual himself.

  • He probably wanted your opinion because you're bisexual. Or maybe he thinks you're hitting on him.

  • He wants compliments -

  • Maybe he felt comfortable asking you because he thought you'd give an honest answer and there's no element of fear like there would be if he asked a girl.

OR...he could be curious about his sexuality.

OR...maybe he's scared of you being attracted to him.

I think any one of those could be equally possible. You could try to figure it out by watching for any changes in his behavior towards you. If there's no change then it's probably answer #1. If he avoids you, it could be #2 or #3. If he flirts with you it's probably #2.

  • As another bi man, not enough info. Guys who know about me ask all kinds of strange questions. He might be fishing for a compliment, because he's insecure. You didn't say what you answered, or how he reacted.

  • its like ppl ask guys does that mean your attracted to me. Its an ignorant question he just wanted to know if you like him or not because ur bi so theres a chance youll like him

  • Ya that happens to me every time I tell a straight friend I'm bi pretty common like the others said hes probably just looking for an ego boost. And as for phat that guy is just going around the website gay bashing people don't know what's wrong with him maybe he's upset cus he's "phat" spelled with an f if you know what I mean (; don't listen to him

  • He's looking for you to stroke his ego. Knowing that you arouse another person of equal status (i.e. not an old man or a child or a homeless person) flatters everyone, regardless of sexual orientation. Asking a girl is much harder, so he probably feels comfortable asking you. I consider myself straight but I have always had a strong curiosity about how attractive my bi friends find me...
