Sometimes when my little brother thinks there's no one watching him, he'll bite off his toenails, chew and swallow them. IIN? and even more important, is it healthy for him?

    They can pierce his stomach wall lining and cause ulcers or worse, wean him off this self-destructive habit immediately.

      Well he grinds them up with his teeth into like a fine powder. So I'm thinking that its bad for his teeth rather than his stomach.

        Oh, I see. I still don't think it's healthy and besides that, he might get ostracized if his classmates see him doing it. So yeah, get him to stop doing it before school's back in session.
