    To get to the cause... In a state of ketosis, your body is utilizing ketones for energy as opposed to carbohydrates. As a result, your body will deregulate the systems that break down carbs into energy during a prolonged state of ketosis. So when you splurge and eat carbs, your body is not used to using those. This results in your body being ineffective at converting them into energy which would result in a significant loss in energy and lethargic feeling.
