I think many people are suffering naturally from depression, perhaps due to a chemical imbalance in their brain. But some of these people who have depression are living in first world countries where the standard of living is high. There is a bit of guilt and shame attached to being depressed when you are well off in society. I actually think some of these people wish bad things upon themselves to validate depression and garner sympathy.

yeah I can understand that. I've been there.
Still doesn't make sense. I've been depressed and wanted to better myself. I don't want to dwell in my own shit.

Yeah I agree with you but some people are in some pretty dark places and can't see that light
