True. I agree that it's wrong to act unappreciative with gifts people wish to give you.
Maybe I'm misunderstanding the story but I still have doubts they were even begging for said gift. What if maybe you just assumed that because they're in the street they're automatically begging. You just said it yourself that's not what they even wanted.
Did it say in a sign, I want food or did it say I want organic food? I'd imagine they were begging for the specific one they wanted. If they weren't then you're right that is ruuude!
They asked for food and some ask to bum a smoke. They didn't specify, they just complained after. Not every single one, just some do. Cigarettes are expensive and it's asking a lot to give one away so it's aggrivating if they say awww it's a menthol as if I took a dump on their face.
