Is it normal sleeping with my fiancé is a nightmare

I love him to death but sleeping in the same bed as him is going to be the death of me. He snores, sleep farts, throws all the covers off the bed, grunts in his sleep, sleep talks, and rolls on top of me.
Every. Single. Night.
I get probably 3 out of 7 good hours of sleep and the rest are spent trying to move his giant sweaty body away from me. The only time he's tolerable to sleep next to is when he's drunk, and even then he's snoring and drooling everywhere.

We've tried handcuffing one hand to his side of the bed, tying bandannas around his mouth, getting sleep medication, and nothing helps. I've pushed him off the bed numerous times, made him sleep on the couch, all I feel bad about but I just can't sleep with him.

  • You could get separate beds, or even separate rooms. Some of my relatives (and their husband or wife) do that because of health problems, but the general idea is the same - more space for each of you.

Why not go old school and have separate twin size beds in the same room?

Get separate beds. Just because you're a couple, doesn't mean you guys have to sleep in the same bed.

Sort of makes me glad I sleep alone...well not alone as a range of soft toy animals share my bed.

OMG , you better sleep with a few other men so you have a comparison. Or like you said this is not going to work ever.

Yeah get separate beds or separate rooms or both, it's not rocket science, also ask him to see a doctor for potential treatments.... lack of sleep is super frustrating, good sleep is super important!!! Also why is he getting drunk? That's not a good thing, I hope that's not a regular occurrence

Like others have said, separate twin beds would end the space-invading and assault. Ear-plugs would solve the noise pollution. If you're not awake, the farts shouldn't be an issue, but maybe keep the window open a crack.

It's understandable you want to be close to him at night, but you're not being selfish if his actions make it simply impossible for you to get a good night's sleep.

If things really are as bad as you say, I'm surprised he wakes up well-rested.

No! This is how a real man sleeps. This is also how a real woman sleeps..she takes it by getting squished real good.
