You're overthinking it. She sounds absolutely fantastic, by the way. Keeping such wonderful news to herself just so she could tell you in a special way marks her out as pretty special herself. I love stuff like this and I'd be absolutely overjoyed to be told that way.
The thing to focus on is that you're engaged to the mother of your unborn child, not what secret motive she may have had (not that I think she had any, anyway).
