I've had poetry published when I was younger but just in my local newspaper and won a few writing competitions. Its not that big of a deal really lol The subject matter is REALLY controversial. It would definitely create some conversation that's for sure.
If you believe the article will provoke conversation what's the problem? Allowing the perception of others to influence your creative process is compromising the integrity of your product. Just write it!
