Sadly, it is normal for this current crop of youngsters. I am only 23, but the work ethic of kids in my generation and younger is repulsive. Nobody likes to work - so that should be your driving ambition to find something you love to do and (hopefully) in an ideal world you'll get to do that for a living.
That being said, everyone has to work. If everybody decided "gee, I don't like this. Living off the government and other people's charity, HERE I COME" the world would be screwed. Find a balance of work and play, and get to work. It's a part of life.
