Is it normal not to want to be choked during sex?

My ex used to like to put his hands around my neck and squeeze firmly whenever I got on top during sex even though it made me uncomfortable. He had a thing about getting turned on by extreme female submissiveness...well, at least I thought it was extreme and it scared me and freaked me out. While I suspect I'm not alone in finding that scary, he did try to convince me that it was perfectly normal and routine behavior. Note: none of my other lovers did that.

Is It Normal?

  • It's normal to like it, and it's normal to not like it. Not liking it is probably more common, if that's what you're looking for.

  • Of course it's normal! You shouldn't feel required to do anything you don't want to do in a sexual situation.

  • This "choking" is, for some who receive it, supposed to heighten orgasm by a lack of oxygen at that moment. It should not be incorporated into sex without a good understanding of the dangers, which are significant. Your ex has it all wrong, it is for the partner and certainly NOT to be used as a form of dominance. You are well rid of that jerk.

  • My honey loves to choke me during intimacy, though not during actual sex (we are asexual, so, no sex ehe) ..

Though not something I get-off on personally, I love that he loves to do it to me, so, the harder and more brutal the better I say... ''tie my hands so I can't fight, and choke the f*ck outta me my love, I am aaaaaall yours'' hehe :p :p

It is perfectly okay for you not to want or enjoy it though, each to his or her own ^_^ xx

  • I think your feelings about this issue are completely normal. I can honestly say I hate people who feel they have a right to dominate others. YUCK!!!

  • That's TOTALLY normal!! There's nothing at all wrong with not wanting to do that.

  • It's normal to be worried about this practice. But when done right it's a lot of fun.

  • I think it's actually less normal to like that.
