  • It is completely normal. I too have a problem with seeing heaven as a physical place. For me, religion in general is hope, hope for continuation of existence. It is led by fear of death, the end. Human beings are programed to survive or at least seek survival. This belief in afterlife is our defensive mechanism. I can scream all I want that I do not believe, but I know that deep inside I hope that when I die, some part of me will stay, somehow, somewhere. Also, I wanted to add that a concept of hell and heaven is foreigner to me as well. I fail to understand why do people have to seek reward for their good deeds. Why not make a world around you a better place, just cause.
