"Normal" assumes there is some standard by which we judge. The trouble is people differ on their view of what the standard should be. So it's frequently a value judgement.
"Normal" often depends on numbers. In this country many used to think gay sex was perverted because the majority liked heterosexual relations. The same applies to national behavior, gender, religion, etc.
Some people believe one teacher, preacher, or whatever. Once you accept the premise of a preacher's teaching that you can walk the streets of gold in heaven if you go to their church and accept the infallibility of his words from the infallible bible in his hands, you will never question what's normal or not because you now know forever.
Is it normal not to believe in "normal"?
