Is it normal my world view depresses people?

I realized this and I was not really aware of it till I started talking to people and they became sad listening to me. Apparently I am a very depressing person when I express how I feel about things. I guess since I accepted things and became desensitized to a lot of things thanks to bad things that have happened in my life. I just speaking honestly though. I mean I did not see why any of this stuff should make people so upset.

Is It Normal?

      • I guess the fact I don't take a lot very seriously. Like when I talk about my past and that I got over it people are sad. They think I have something wrong since I am not really effected about it and don't have any reaction talking about it. I just don't see the point in still being upset and I moved on.

        • It doesn't sound depressing, it sounds wise. Like you moved on from past experience and not dwell on it. Honestly you should just ignore the people who say that you're depressing. Because it sounds like, well like I said, you sound wise to move on from the past.

          • Well I not sure why. I can tell by their reactions. Than they say something is wrong with me and I feel bad. Say I should not think like that. Than I am like "Fuck I made everyone sad again" and feel like a bastard.

            • I know that feel. I guess then you shouldn't really talk about it unless somebody asks. Maybe try to pretend a little bit happier, like just jokingly pass it aside as something you don't really want to think about.

  • I'm the same way. I'm a bit of a nihilist but it doesn't depress me because I have learned to accept that we live in a miserable universe where people like to ignore anything they don't like.

Acceptance of what you cannot change is better than ignoring what you can.

    • "we live in a miserable universe where people like to ignore anything they don't like."

That's not what the belief of nihilism focuses on.

      • I agree that a lot of people are apathetic but I don't think that the universe is miserable because of it. There are plenty of charities devoted to helping the less fortunate.

      • Which is why I used the adjective "a bit of".

I'm not going to base all my ideas off a single predescribed philosophical label.

  • Hey im the same way sometimes. i dont claim to be smarter or better then others but i think my experiences has caused me to see things for what they really are; people and life in general. I think im a cold desensitized realist too. Its ok to express your views but be mindful of who you express those views to.
