I went to check to see if he responded (my notifications can be weird on my phone) and it said I couldn't reply to the conversation, which means blocked.
I would like for that to be it but I think it asks if you're sure you want to block the person and you have to confirm it.
When I get messages from people I'm not friends with, it usually tells me that such-and-such person would like to connect with me or something like that last I checked anyway.
IIN my old friend blocked me on social media?

Is there a chance he blocked you by mistake?
Sometimes the block button on certain things would be real easy to hit by mistake.
Maybe try another route?
Not that I know anything but just a wild guess is he didn't block on purpose.
EDIT - if this was on FB, I didn't think one could even send a message unless you were "friends". I thought it just went to the junk folder?
