Yes, this is normal if your 6yo has a job, and buys and prepares his own food. But if he's like most 6yo's, he relies on a parent or guardian, perhaps you, to do this for him. If that is the case, it is not normal for you to choose to feed him nothing but chicken sticks, candy and soda, regardless of what a 6yo demands.
