well my hands are always dry,, i find it uncomfortable after coming out of shower or washing my hands as all the moisture dries, and i hate the feel of materials like denim it sends a shiver down my spine, after like an hour the moisture comes back but i still hate the feel of most materials on my hands.
are you getting enough vitamin E in your diet? there's this brilliant stuff called "hemp hand protector" from the body shop. it goes on really thick, but it absorbs well (use this for severely dry/cracked hands). if your hands aren't that bad, try one of the body butters they have. they keep your hands moisturized longer than regular lotion. also, keep a bottle of lotion next to the sink, and try to carry a small one with you when you go out. apply after washing your hands. also, try to avoid overly drying soaps (ivory kills my skin).
but i know how you feel. i can't stand touching paper right after i wash my hands, and i can never stand the feel of that really short/firm velvet stuff. it send shivers down my spine as well.
