Is it normal my hand shakes while eating?

My hands don't usually shake, but when I'm eating and I raise my hand even a bit, it starts to shake.

This is a problem when I'm for example eating at university with my friends. I usually lower my head a bit and steady my left hand (holding the fork) with my right hand by touching the fork with the knife. And when I'm drinking something, I have to steady the glass with my other hand.

I have left my food almost untouched a couple of times, since I just couldn't eat because of my hand shaking.

It could be familial tremors. Have your PCP or a neurologist check you out. There are medications to treat the condition.

This could be due to many things. It could be start of Parkinson's Disease, a spasm, something else neurologically related, etc.
It would be best if you went to see a doctor.

One term for this is "Essential Tremor" Check it out on "Google". This may not be the exact problem you have but it's worth a look. If it is, and quite a few people have this, they can give you medication to help it. Good luck. (Sometimes it's generic so you might check if anyone else in your family has this problem)
