Who doesn't have a cell phone these days? You could have easily called your "girlfriend" to tell her you were at her house or gone to where she was. Why would you just hang around waiting on someone when you had no idea where she was or when she was coming back? I think you saw an opportunity and you just wanted to get cozy with the pre-teen.
