Don't listen to what your ex says about you. If anything, its not that you're not attractive, he's just moved on and the spark is gone. He used a poor choice of words for explaining that though, and said that you're unattractive instead. And also, he sounds like an immature jerk. Thats another reason why you shouldn't listen to him.
I used to have really blonde hair in hs, and just around sept/oct of last year, I decided to go darker to be closer to my natural color. Well, a lot of people had something to say about that. I got a good amount of compliments, but with that I also got dirt from a couple people who were more used to me as a blondie. My point is; screw what assholes say. People will always have their opinions, and sometimes you can't satisfy everyone.
There's a reason for your ex being your ex. The past is your past, so leave it there and move on.
