Long story short, last month I broke up with my girlfriend after 18 months. Now she's messaging me about if my parents know we broke up, and if so, what I told them, and their reaction.

Is that normal after a break up? Why would she care?

    I think it's ok, if you two still talk as friends. I reconnected with a woman I used to date, just chatting and the occasional drink, and she often asks about my family. And remembers things, so the conversation is good. I, in turn, ask about hers even though we're not dating or "together" at this point. Just still care about each other.

    Obviously she's looking to cop a Christmas gift and afraid that you fucked all of that up. So if you haven't, then do so immediately. Your parents must be sweet folks so be sure to fuck it up good!
