He seems like a bit of a douche. I get the whole "Father son" bonding process, but that does not mean you and him shouldn't go through that same process as "Father and daughter".
Um all dads are like that here where I grew up. Dads in the big city could have different minds about it. That's why I asked. It's normal here but what about all over the US. What state are you from?

I live in the US and I don't know any dads here that says that to his daughter. Plus, I use to live out in the country in the state I live in.
UK. Most dads aren't like that here.
