Maybe he just doesn't like dogs? I use to tell my boyfriend if he ever got a dog he wouldn't see me face to face until they were gone. Long story short, he got a dog. Two of them but I still see him despite the fact that I strongly dislike dogs.
Maybe he is just kidding around? You know, talking the talk, but he's not going to walk the walk? I couldn't imagine someone leaving their partner whom they have a child with just because of a dog, that's a little much. If he really cares I'm sure he would suck it up and deal with it, but that is just my opinion.
