  • Because I like birds, just like people enjoy having pet dogs or cats. Both of my birds were already domesticated when I got them. I got my budgie when he was almost a years old because the guy who owned him couldn't look after him anymore, and I bought my ringneck from a breeder.

I know its not good to buy animals from backyard breeders/breeders and I would of preferred a rescue bird, but I had recently loss one of my close ringnecks which made me very heartbroken and depressed, and after a few months decided to get another ringneck in honor of my little girl :(

    • Adopting a rescued bird is a rare opportunity so it can't always be done. I just love those magnificent bastards enough that I couldn't bear to strip them of their ability to fly and be free.

      • True, I think you also need a licence over where I live if you want to start rescuing birds since most of them would probably exotic or wild birds. I feel like as long as the bird is happy and u try to care for it properly it is ok to keep them, but if they are not happy then it would be best to give them up to a rescue center or if they were previously wild bird let them go.

I don't really like people who keep exotic birds or wilds like palm cockatoos or any other big or rare parrot because generally they require lots of attention 24/7 and need big spaces to excerise so it would be best if they were in the wild or wildlife center :o

I also don't like people who clip birds wings, as u said they should fly free. None of my birds wings are clipped (although when I got my budgie his wings were clipped, but they grew back)

        • It's pretty clear you take good care of them. I mistook you for someone else. But still, don't you think they're better off socializing with their kind?
