Is it normal my band director gave me 1000 mg of tylenol

Ok last night at a local high school they had 8th grade band night so me (being in 8th grade of the feeder middle school for that high school ) it was a required event - I had a jet ski accident about 3 weeks ago and either crack/fractured/bruised/or broke a rib and the pain came back really strong last night so my band director (he is almost like my 2nd dad) gave me 2x the recommended dose for my age and body mass witch is 300-500 mg. He gave me 1000 mg. He knew it too and didn't get permission from the school or anything he just asked if I was allergic to anything and gave me 3 Tylenol and said this is 1000mg. - if you start feeling weird tell me asap ....... Is that normal?

Is It Normal?

  • He was trying to HELP you. He didn't forcefeed it to you.

It is stupid shit like this that further solidifies this country's need for tort reform. Because people like you go whine to mommy and daddy and they say, GASP! He did WHAT? Then, instead of being responsible adults and talking to the man, file a blind lawsuit. Then this man has to go explain why he gave a 13 year old some damn Tylenol.

You try to help someone and this is the thanks you get. WHAAA I checked my BMI and according to the label they gave me too much over the counter Tylenol WHAA. #1 He didn't stick a fucking feeding tube down your throat and stuff bottles of pills down your throat. #2 If you though it was too much Tylenol, you speak up and say Oh I just need two, thanks. #3 Your ass should be thanking him for trying to help you, and quit being a punkass bitch.

I am not usually this rude and insensitive but your post just pissed me off.

Grow up. One day you will be an adult and you will realize how stupid you look bitching, complaining, and overanalyzing something so stupid. Now get off the fucking computer and go outside you little brat.

  • Probably no big deal. Not sure if it's necessarily legal though, with all the threats of lawsuit these days.

  • Acetamenophine, the ingredient of Tylenol, can cause liver and kidney damage with long-term use, but you would have to take a lot more than that in a one-time dose to cause damage. Aspirin is much safer and much better pain reliever. You should tell him that, or have your parents tell him that next time, he should give you something containing aspirin, not Tylenol.

  • That is the equal to 2 extra strength tylenol .(500mg each). That won't even take the pain away from mild headache, let alone, a broken rib?! Did it make you feel funny? Did it take away the pain? From a legal view, he should of sent you to the nurse. From a 2nd dad view, I don't see the problem.

  • I'm not complaining or making a big deal out if it !! I'm just wondering if it's normal to have this kind of connection with my band director (he is amazing) - it made me somewhat dizzy and his wife (a nurse) ask me if I would walk into the bathroom and show her I didn't :-/
