      Because words mean something, that's what they're for! It's the attitude behind some usernames which is the problem: I think I've made it perfectly clear earlier, but I will repeat it one more time. A username which is blatantly racist or misogynist or about brutal child sexual abuse betrays an attitude that it's ok to trivialise these issues. Not exactly rocket science ....

        There is no reason for you to be so condescending in your response. I understand what you are saying but this website is rampant with inappropriate usernames and post. If you find it that troublesome why do you frequent here? There obviously is no moderating going on so the only solution I see is that if you are troubled by it to not use this website.

          I wasn't intending to be condescending. IIN is also full of thoughtful intelligent humane people with whom I enjoy interacting and I won't be giving that up because of a few morons. I do however reserve the right to confront such morons whenever I feel like it.

          It's not about "inappropriateness" by the way, it's about being offensive in a way that contributes to oppression and misery.
