He didn't say more Americans are more obese than not. He thought OP was saying Americans aren't the most obese nation. He misunderstood the post.
As for his facts, they're correct. America tops the list of obesity on every result on the first page of google except one from 2013 which Mexico topped. Whether his response was rude and irrelevant, his facts were 100% correct. Him being rude has nothing to do with the credibility of his facts. He made nothing up except the scenario he thought OP painted.
