Killing yourself won't help you at all, and will hurt them less than not knowing; again, let them sweat.
$500.00 is a lot of money if you know how to spend it wisely and not much if you don't. Lots of strangers will help you out if you are honest, a hard worker and try your best to be self sufficient.
At least in Fla there are free showers at the beach, so you can keep your clothes and your body clean for job interviews, etc.
