I'm yet to encounter a site that asks for ID. Most of the sites I come across only ask for email and username or name (I almost always use my professional or pen name when these pop up. When I first started my google account I gave them my real name, birth year, etc but no phone number. Big fucking mistake. I was under the impression that ANY of my accounts would only show my pen name but instead they showed my real name! So, I went through this lengthy ordeal of having to change my google account name. Huge pain in the ass that was but it worth it!) One of my current biggest problems with google is the YouTube changes. Yes, I detest the new layout but this is not about that. It's about their confusing "rules" on how to upload a video past 15mins. They say you can do this if you have a good standing on the site. Yet, YouTube is insisting that the quickest and best way to do this is if you give them your phone number! What if your account gets hacked? Then that "person" can get all of your information. It's disturbing. Something should really be done about this, like a protest.
Is it normal internet is now asking for way to much information?
