I think you pretty much answered your own question. As a guy, it does take a while to come up to a girl who looks overly attractive, when you get past that then all is well (Yes, even with the slightest effort at times)
The opposite is true. From a personal experience, it sometimes bothers me when I try to start a conversation with a girl and it doesn't always go so well because it looks to me she could sink in the floor at any moment.
