Idk if social media or the internet really give people the freedom to be who they are. In a way I think it hinders people from expressing themselves in real life. It's a crutch, our image on facebook, twitter, instagram, and even this site, are just masks. It's what we want people to see, it's not who we really are. The problem is when we wear these masks, sometimes we forget how to take them off.
I think social media creates self conscious people in real life and online. We're aware others are watching our every move, reading into our words, judging our appearance, and defining who we are by who we present ourselves as.
I deactivated my social media accounts one by one the last couple months, except for this one and google plus. It's weird because I feel like a different person. More like myself and not a profile.
The thing that depresses me when I'm around others is when they're not truly present, when they're absorbed in their phone. Or big crowds lol the malls during the Christmas holidays send me into panic mode, too much visual and auditory stimulation at one time. I trail off way too often lol
IIN if people ruin my day?
