Odds are your mother will know if she is missing a panty. Some women can be quite freaked out to find someone has been ruffling through their draws. ;)
If it is the texture that pleases you then find the fabric at a fabric store of thrift shop and enjoy.
If you are keeping the panty for more than an interval between wash loads or longer then just keep them. Do not delude yourself to think that returning them at a later date will set things straight, it will only complicate and maybe disturb mother/child harmony.
