I have a morbid fascination with people who are locked up in those supermax prisons and with the attitude of the prisons. Apparently the prisons go to great lengths to keep these people from committing suicide but have no problem with, for example, prisoners who go so mad that they make chess pieces out of their own poo and play chess against themselves. People seem to commit suicide when they have no feeling of hope. Someone locked up with no human contact for the rest of their life would almost have to go mad. Maybe in the madness there is some kind of feeling of hope, however weird and disturbing that would be.
