No it is not normal at all. It seems like you (and many others) have a emotional connection with food. Your eat for comfort, to be happier and reasons other than hunger. I'm not saying you should only eat if your hungry(some chocolate after dinner is perfectly fine) but when it's just to have something in your mouth, that's when we need to fix the problem. I suggest you see a registered nutritionist and/or dietician and discusses with them. Also you should try tea, watermelon and veggie sticks if you still née something, they will help with the weight gain. Gum too.
