As long as you start studying early enough, you shouldn't need an all-nighter. A guy on my floor pulled all-nighters when he had calculus exams. I was in his class so we asked each other questions about the exam when it came. I studied during the day so I was done by early enough in the night so I could get a decent night's sleep before the exam (it was an early morning class). Some people can pull all-nighters and do just fine. I'm not one of them.
