Is it normal I won't let a babysitter watch my son?

  • Have you tried leaving your son to play by himself for a while under your watch? Even at 2, a little bit of independence for a child may be a good thing. That's my case for the first babysitter.

As for the second, she should at least have checked with you before bringing anyone else into the house. You're perfectly justified in being angry here. From her perspective though, maybe she just wanted her boyfriend to meet the child who occupies a lot of her free time?

    • First babysitter: it's because he's not even in the same room or he'll be upstairs when she's downstairs. The only time I let him be in a different part of the house is when he's asleep in bed. The fact she's on the phone makes it worst, because if he gets hurt it might take her longer to notice. You have to at least check up on him but she didn't do that.

Second: maybe. But I have to meet someone before they're hauled up in a house with my kid.

      • Ok. With the extra details, I think you're good.

There are some good babysitters out there though.
