It's not good to wish someone was dead, especially a parent, but if there is a significant history of if abuse, and neglect it's wise to go no contact.
You think it's wise to go no contact? I'm indecisive about it. My parents raised me Christian and really needlessly spoiled my younger years and still make me feel guilty for things I do a lot of times. I'm really upset at them for this, but their intentions were good the whole way and they have supported me really well financially and emotionally so far. I haven't told them all the things I have done that I know they would despise. I am in my second year of college and really unsure what to do. I am so upset at them but know they loved on me a lot for all these years also. Why did I have to be raised Christian?
I can't really tell you what to do. Have you considered seeing a therapist for some counseling?
It's not necessary for you to tell your folks all the things you have done of which they might disapprove, it's not like their ears are a therapist couch, or a confessional. I assume you are a legal adult, and as such you get to decide what you want to share with others, and to whom you want to disclose it.
If you feel that you have been abused, or neglected you should checkout ACOA/ACA which stands for Adult Children of Alcoholics and Dysfunctional Families.
You are so helpful! Thanks for your response! I don't think I could say it was abuse. I plan to just try to limit contact enough that they don't worry about me. But yes I am a adult and what they think of how I behave is none of their business.
Is it normal I want very ?
