Well, I know people that have benefited from them. My neighbor was in an out of care with cannabis induced paranoid schizophrenia.. and she kept taking drugs. So, she was erratic and frequently hospitalised, I saw what they did, how they helped and such.
I have also seen others benefit.
I know some are absolutely terrible.. but I believe they have worth. Particularly for someone like the OP who knows they should speak to one.
I have a very negative of the mental health system from my experience with them. I think if I went to a hospital I would lose it. I cannot imagine what good they could do. I wish I could get assistance with some things at times but only I can solve my problems. The mental health system is to blame for much of homelessness, poverty, suicides and homicides, and other people whose lives are destroyed by society.
IIN I want to see a therapist but think no one is qualified enough?

Yeah, well.. I don't have such a cynical view of it as you.
I know the system where I am kept a lot off the streets, until the standards changed and many homes were closed.
They exist for a reason and do help many people. Neither of us have a statistically significant experience.
Logic dictates it is not as bad as you say, not perfect, but largely positive.
