It's not actually the age that makes buttsiclesticks smell. When stored for an indefinite amount of time, they need to be washed daily. Failure to do so will bring all sorts of deadly odors into the home. Also it's important to clean them on the inside too, but it needs to be done gently and with plenty of lubrication or else they'll become loose, baggy, and unappealing.

Buttsickelsticks usually smell fresh. When they're older they loose their aroma and get kinda crusty.
