Is it normal i want to drop out

Okay so basically I think alot about dropping out of society. I just see all the waste our society produces as something I dont want to take part in. I also feel that perhaps that I have a childlike nieve veiw of how the world could/should work. and perhaps I need to just suck it up and go back to school and get a job. But when I think about that stuff I honestly see no reason to be excited. I really just need advice.

Maybe it is naive, but I think about it too.

You're right, many people will tell you to stop thinking so much and doing so little and get a job. And they could be right. After all, this is how everybody lives. Life's no fairytale - you gotta work for your dough and the waste and poison and greed engulfing us is a ticking timebomb, but don't worry about it. It's bigger than you. But you know, maybe you really can do something different.

I sometimes think about what would happen if lots of people "dropped out" and we started afresh. I don't think that would work. We have to change what we've got already. As an individual though, you can do what you want.

First of all, what is it that you want? If you want to live on the outside, then you have to know how.

  • I feel exactly the same way as you right now. It is tough, because other people don't understand, or they think you're lazy or unmotivated when that isn't it. I'm trying to find my way through this and I'm sure you'll find yours, too.

I dropped out because I had no motivation,
but I soon inrolled in online school. It's much easier and you can go at your own pace, and graduate late or early.
Ironically, I'm going to graduate early soon!
    Goodluck.

Living under a bridge is a distinct possibility but I don't advise it. You could leave, just live out in the mountains and not associate with anyone. I think many people entertain the idea of dropping out of society but you probably are aware that as hard as it is to see waste and destruction, it's equally hard - if not more so - to live off of the land.

your opinion is common enough. not everyone wants to be part of the waste and work that never ends. but, what are you going to do, live under a bridge? best to find a job so that you can support yourself and live in a way that is not so wasteful. go green at home.
