Sure! But you rarely get completely tolerably whacky without some downsides. To be crazy and spontaneous usually involves having some not so entertaining qualities - actual mental illness for example (bipolarity, anxiety, psychosis etc.).
Also unpredictability isn't always a good thing. They might not turn up on time or at all, they might not be there for you when you need them. In their crazy, spontaneous way, they might fluctuate emotionally and sexually to great degrees. They might take risks, serious risks, with their own life or other people's...
I mean the characters you hold up as romanticised ideals for the kind of nutty man you want are mass-murdering criminals (The Joker, The Riddler). They might be fun and cartoonish, but placed in a non-fictional context they would be violent sociopaths!
I like slightly weird, adventurous girls, because, like you said, it keeps things entertaining. You can be odd together and have random adventures. But the people I've known who are "absolutely crazy" are NOT relationship material. They are a therapist's dream.
