Is it normal I think prison sentences should be indefinite?

  • What, so we can supply them with three hots and a cot forever? NO SIR. Here's what I think we need to do:

    For murderers:
You get three options... the gallows, the guillotine, or the firing squad. You get 24 hours to make your peace, and a simple last meal (none of this lobster and steak shit).

    For thieves:
First offense, we take your hand, second offense, we take the next hand, third offense, we take your head.

For rapists, both male and female:
First offense, we cut it off or cauterize it shut, second offense, see options for murderers.

There's no such thing as "drug abusers" in my world because in MY world you have the freedom to put whatever you want in your body, because it's YOUR body.

    • What of those wrongly convicted? Good luck bringing them back to life or reattaching their limbs…

      • I'm sure the judge and jury that wrongly convicted them will be subjected to torture, don't you worry!

      • I don't understand why I got so many thumbs down, really. :P

I just listed the three most heinous of crimes, that I could think of, which would get the worst punishments. They were laid out simply here, but they would obviously need to adapt to the mainstream world, and they would need to scale to the severity of the crime. (For example, I would NOT chop of the hand of someone who stole a candy bar... but rather someone who steals something of much, much greater value.)

I don't believe that prison works to deter crime, but rather its an endless cycle of extortion.

The OP is basically advocating for "RE-education camps", which I am NOT in favor of. Re-education camps have been used by dictators and tyrants in the past, they're NOT a good idea... Sorry OP.

    • What about people who put drugs in other people's bodies?

      • If it was not consensual, and it did not result in death or rape...

Then once the victim is able, hand him/her a good stick, a whip, or whatever tool he/she wants and let them beat the STUPID out of the criminal (who has one foot tied to the ground, and his hands tied together, so he/she can't move). If he or she is unwilling or unable to hand out the beating for any reason, then we simply find someone who WILL do it.

If it DID result in death, see "murderer".

If it DID result in rape, see "rapist".

        Simple. :D

    • First, did you READ my post? I said there would be an "upper limit", meaning there would be a max amount of years for the crime, so that people couldn't be incarcerated for a lifetime for an assault, for instance. Say the max for the crime someone commits might be 10 years. Instead of giving them a definite sentence of 6 years, they get no timed sentence. They can be out as soon as they meet behavioral and rehabilitation goals, whether that's 1 year, 3 years or 9 years.

Second, your ideas are horrible. I don't agree with the death penalty and I don't agree with "cruel and unusual" punishment. Thankfully, most people agree with me on that.

      • Nope, I sure didn't because your post is retarded. The death penalty is reserved only for those who commit the most heinous of crimes... AND the three options I give are ACTUALLY MORE HUMANE than the "electric chair" or the "injection" which are both slow, painful deaths!!

If someone walks up to you and beats the tar out of you, in return, we would tie him down as described above, and then YOU would get to return the favor. It's the concept of an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth.

There's nothing wrong with my ideas, you just have to watch who you choose to enforce them. And, if my ideas were enforced properly and not abused, you would see crime rates PLUMMET to near ZERO.

        • Nothing wrong with your ideas? Yeah, except that they're awful. There ARE/were places that have similar guidelines and their crime rate certainly isn't ZERO.

    • Wouldn't the executioner also be a murderer, so it would end up being an endless loop? As each executioner was executed and then that executioner in turn would be executed.
