I don't see the point. Why wait so long for a free gift of extreme pleasure? And who knows, when you get married, it could turn out that your husband or wife is really bad in bed.
Is it normal I think it's dumb to wait? Ugh it's not 1700 anymore.
I tend to agree that the point is hard to see though "dumb" is harsh - and of course it is a choice etc. etc.. It doesn't matter to me what you do although wait has merit for young teenage people. And if we are getting into 17th century - well - no birth control and starting families at 15 is hardly a comparator so "wait" wasn't very long.
It's a person's life, thus it's there decision on how they want to live it. If a person wants to wait until marriage, then it is his/her choice and you have to respect that. Also, it may not be the 1700s but the morals back then were the morals that shaped society, so it's only natural that some people were brought up to believe that their virginity is a gift and not something that should be easily given away to anyone. From the sound of it, I think the main problem you have is that you hate prudes.

Alright I'll dial it back cause I'll admit that "hate" is pretty strong. But I do think that you dislike prudes. If you disagree with my assumption I'd like to hear why.
I dislike prudes. Also, I don't respect those ridiculous "morals" because I know those who follow all that shit also think higher of themselves for waiting and lack respect for those who don't. Heck there are countries where adultery still gets you stoned or beheaded so I believe we should behead prudes.
I find that offensive. I am not having sex until I am married and I don't think I am any better than anyone else, excluding people who make assumptions about others based on their sexual preferences. I think those people are idiots.

Practically all of the girls I know are prudes, they don't really look down on anybody, unless you give them a reason. I think its possible that perhaps all of the prudes that you've met in your life just happen to be condescending, which I'll admit that if I dealt with people like that then I would dislike prudes as well. But I don't think it's fair to call everyone with morals condescending, some people truly see each other as equals, regardless in their beliefs. And I've met some of those people, the ones that are highly religious yet non-judgmental, and actually had a pretty good conversation with them.
I will admit that I dislike some of the prudish women that I know only because of the hypocrisy that I've dealt with. But prudes in general, I don't dislike, because it's their belief and their choice on how they want to live their life. I get where you're coming from, but I'm sure you can't dislike all prudes.
I'll wait. But I don't blame anyone who doesen't. Personally I think it makes it easier to ensure you have a functioning platonic relationship and love each other as a person. That of course only makes sense if you believe in marriage as a lifelong bond, where sexuality will pass eventually, and you'll have to talk to each other.
But I wouldn't recommend this if you just can't wait. You shouldn't just marry someone so you can have sex.

I don't think it's dumb. I know plenty of young, attractive, date-able (and dating) adults who would prefer to wait until marriage rather than risk losing their virginity (something that they value) only to fight and break-up later. It also helps them to find partners with similar values. If the relationship is good and they are willing to wait until marriage for sex, there's a strong possibility that they will have similar belief systems and morals. It's a useful standard for people who aren't stark, angry horny or are cool with pleasuring themselves

I agree with you. It seems that some people think along the lines: "Well, if you want to drive a car, you need a driving licence, so if you want to have sex, you need to get a fucking licence." But strangely enough, they tend to forget that even in case of driving, it is not the case that you buy your car in one package with the driving licence first and only then try to drive for the first time in your life...

I see a post on here almost weekly titled something like "IIN I want to wait until marriage" so I thought it was time to have a post which was the opposite, for once.
A lot of people who wait until marriage look down on people who decide not to. And there's proof of that on this site.

I agree. I don't get why anyone would think, "Hey, so, our honeymoon is the most romantic time ever, we're going to be having the time of our lives. Let's wait till then to have the most awkward sex ever and completely ruin the mood."
It's like not testdriving a car before buying it - the idea that you want to get into a major commitment without understanding this vital bit of how you and they interact seems deliberately blind.

Its a moral belief... Waiting till marriage in my opinion is amazing! In waiting I get to have the thrill of sex with one man that I will know I want! Sex is too casual now a days!
